A diverse selection of topics our consultants can help you with:
-
REACH
Is your company facing an announced inspection regarding its REACH obligations? Or do you want to make sure, regardless of any inspection, that your company complies with this EU legislation on hazardous substances? Then trust BIG … Our consultants will identify all risks and shortcomings and help you on your way to full compliance.
-
CLP
Every manufacturer, importer or downstream user in the EU is obliged to classify his chemical substances correctly according to hazard criteria, label them accordingly and package them correctly before putting them on the market.
BIG can help you with every step and aspect of CLP, taking into account both EU legislation and the specific legislation of each member state.
-
Chemical Safety Assessment (CSA & Du CSA)
REACH obliges manufacturers, importers and downstream users of hazardous substances to perform specific safety assessments and to prepare corresponding reports. BIG helps you elaborating CSAs or DU CSAs, drafting the relevant ESs and preparing corresponding CSRs or DU CSRs.
-
Downstream user Compliance Check
As a downstream user of a hazardous substance, you receive use-specific exposure scenarios (ESs) from your supplier as part of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS). The REACH regulation requires you to evaluate these exposure scenarios within your own company. We help you with the review of ESs, as well as their implementation or adjustment through an in-company DU CSA and DU CSR.
-
Protection and welfare at work
The Belgian Act of 4 August 1996 on well-being of workers in the performance of their work (the Welfare Act) imposes general but crucial health and safety obligations on companies. When workers come into contact, directly or indirectly, with hazardous substances, the concrete implementation of these legal obligations becomes very complex. Every employer must prevent or reduce safety risks and occupational accidents through an appropriate (prevention) policy, prioritise collective means of protection over individual protective equipment, provide training and information to workers and so on.
Do your employees directly or indirectly deal with dangerous substances? Do you want to be sure that the procedures followed and the documents used comply with the Belgian Welfare Act? Then rely on BIG to audit your company. Our specialists detect risks and shortcomings, draw up reports, give advice, and can provide appropriate training.
-
Transport security
Does your company transport hazardous materials by road, rail, water or air? Or are you responsible for shipping, loading, unloading, filling or packaging hazardous materials in connection with such transport? If so, you are required by law to appoint a safety adviser.
BIG can assist your own adviser by answering one-off questions, conducting audits (including workplace inspections), doing spot-checks (vehicle departure checks) and so on, or we can take on the role of fully independent external adviser.
-
Biocides
We assist you in word and deed in the field of BPR (Regulation (EU) No 528/2012), from European approval of active substances to national authorisations for biocides.
BIG can help you with every step and aspect of CLP, taking into account both EU legislation and the specific legislation of each member state.
Our CLP services include:
submitting mandatory information on the classification and labelling of a substance for inclusion in the European Chemicals Agency's (ECHA) classification and labelling (C&L) inventory
submitting a proposal for harmonised classification and labelling (CLH) of a substance
requesting alternative chemical names
screening existing SDSs, correcting them and, if necessary, translating them into other languages
drafting new SDSs, also in several languages
determining the correct content and dimensions of a label - BIG elaborates the entire label in Word, in one or more languages
PCN (Poison Centre Notification)
provide electronic set of H-, EUH- and P-statements in the required languages
carry out an audit of your CLP-related activities together with your prevention adviser and/or environmental coordinator

Detergents: Regulation (EC) No 648/2004
Closely related to CLP is Regulation (EC) No 648/2004, which defines specific requirements for detergents (cleaning products). BIG can prepare the appropriate label for your detergents, as well as the required datasheet for medical personnel and the list of ingredients intended for publication.
